• Fascinating example of Schwitters" energetic, figurative landscape painting, which the artist continued throughout his entire oeuvre alongside his Dadaist work.
• Atmospheric portrait of the massive, untouched nature in his new adopted home of Norway.
• From 1930 to 1936, Schwitters spent the summer months in Norway, mainly at Hotel Djupsvashytta on Lake Djupvand, where the present work was created, and on the island of Hjertøya.
• In the summer of 1932, Schwitters rented a cabin on the island of Hjertøya, which he began to turn into one of his famous "Merzbauten" over the following years.
• Due to his increasing political defamation through the National Socialists, Schwitters decided not to return to Germany at the height of his international recognition in late 1936
