/strong></p> <p>Bonham's New York, 7 June 2011</p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Edgar Brandt (1880-1960)</strong></p> <p>Edgar Brandt was born in Paris and studied at the Ecole Professionel de Vierzon. Brandt also spent two years in the military where he noticed a need for light weapons. Upon returning to Paris, he designed a 60mm mortar and ammunition which eventually was widely copied throughout WWI and WWII. One of his most known works, it the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier under the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. In 1902 Brandt opened his own business to produce ironwork and light weaponry. His company evolved to making wrought-iron pieces such as gates, grills, elevator doors, lamp bases, chairs and screens. Brandt was awarded the Medal of Honor for Applied Art by the Societe des Artistes Francais and the title of Knight of the Legion of Honor.</p> <p>Condition: <span>This console and vitrine are in overall good condition.</span></p> <p><i>Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.</i>
