Andy Warhol
1928 Pittsburgh - New York 1987
The dinner dress
Silkscreen in colors on cotton cellulose fabric. (1968). C. 94 x 58 cm. Inscribed in the neckline on the original typographic label. The dress was signed by Andy Warhol in 1980 on the front in the lower left.
The dress dates from 1968 and was only available this year. There were sizes S, M and L, with 1,000 copies each. According to the Warhol Foundation, New York, a maximum of 5-10 copies were signed by Warhol himself. So far none of these signed copies have been offered on the auction market, so this copy is extremely rare.
The crease and fold marks in the fabric belong to the original condition, as the dresses were sent to the buyers in an envelope.
The display dummy is not part of the auction, but can be purchased on request.
