BUFFET Bernard
OWL. ORIGINAL INK DRAWING. 38 x 25.5 cm (drawing), 38 x 51 cm (double page), framed.
Original drawing by Bernard Buffet, on a flyleaf next to a half-title page of the pacifist work by Jean Giono “Search for Purity”, illustrated by Bernard Buffet in 1953.
The half-title page includes 3 addresses to Juliette and Henri Dalmon (for whom this copy was printed). The first by Bernard Buffet, “To Juliette and Henri Dalmon this search which will teach them nothing because they found purity, with the affection of Bernard Buffet”, the second by Jean Giono: “To Juliette; to Henri Dalmon, my old father, this bird who has the face of a seeker of purity with my, our friendship, to you both Jean Giono", the third of Pierre Bergé "To Juliette and Henri Dalmon this useless foreword where the canons resemble thistles, but where life does not resemble death and which will remind you of our slow and patient research...".
