New York-based artist Josh Smith was born in 1976 in Tennessee. He attended Miami University and the University of Tennessee during the mid-1990s. He has internationally, including solo shows at De Hallen Haarlem in the Netherlands (2010), Centre d'Art Contemporain Genève in Switzerland (2009) and Sculpture Center in New York (2005). His pieces have been featured in many group exhibitions including The Drawing Center, New York (2009), Contemporary Museum, Baltimore (2009); MoMA PS1, New York (2009); Museum of Modern Art, New York (2008); Museum of Modern Art, Oslo (2008); Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2007); the State Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg (2007); Saatchi Gallery, London (2007); Serpentine Gallery, London (2006); and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (2006). His work is currently being shown in the exhibition The Forever Now: Contemporary Painting in an Atemporal World at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, through April 2015
