Entitled, inscribed and signed, with one seal of the artist; Dated spring, renchen year (1892); Four collectors' seals; TRANSLATION OF THE INSCRIPTION: Lingyan Mountain is a famous place of magnificent beauty to the west of the town with many historic sites. The view between north of Shouxing Peak and south of Xushan Spur is breathtaking, yet it remains largely unknown. Although local farmers herd their cattle there, few travelers have reached it. In the spring of renchen year (1892), I was invited to hike in the mountain by Zhang from Xujiang, and looked far into the distance at a high point. We saw miles of lofty cliffs on which ancient pine trees and wisteria grew upside-down, and grotesque, jagged rocks covered in moss - a view as beautiful as the renowned Mount E'mei. Upon my return I created this painting and placed it beside my bed so I can view it in bed. People have had different opinions on the beauty of the Mountain, but I truly adore it
