Miquel, Pierre: Félix Ziem 1821-1911, Maurs-La-Jolie 1978, cat.rais.-no. 1030 with b/w ill. - Burdin-Hellebranth, Anne: Félix Ziem 1821-1911, Bruxelles 1998, Tome II, cat.rais.-no. 1461 with full-page illustration.Félix Ziem was one of the biggest colorist of the 19th century. His unique talent to interpret light is close to impressionism. His light-filled, vividly coloured paintings had two main motifs: the strait near Constantinople with the typical hastate boats swimming on the Bosporus as well as the sail boats and gondolas before Venice. Already in his lifetime Ziem's good pictures, which were called "colourful jewels", belonged to the most wanted pieces of the most significant collectors in the world. The impressionistic scene with numerous boats before the silhouette of the Hagia Sophia belongs to the most important works with an orientalistic motif by Ziem. Special-Edition-Catalogue_Collection_Stinner Text-Special-Edition-Catalogue_Collection_Stinner
