Project for the facade of the MAMAC in Nice, March 2001 Acrylic on paper The image H: 32 cm W: 20 cm The sheet H: 52 cm W: 29 cm Sol Lewitt (1928-2007) View of the facade of the MAMAC in Nice I would describe the type of art in which I am involved in conceptual art. In conceptual art, the idea or concept is the most important aspect of the work. When an artist uses a conceptual form of art, it means that everything is agreed and decided beforehand and that the execution is a routine affair. The idea becomes a machine that makes art. This type of art is neither theory nor illustration of a theory. It is intuitive and linked to all kinds of mental processes; It is generally independent of the skill of the artist and his technical know-how. The conceptual artist aims to make his or her work mentally interesting to the viewer. He would like his work to become emotionally neutral. ©D.R
