Private British collection. This lot was purchased by the current owner's grandfather, Tuh Faung Zing, who was born in Ningbo, China in 1907. Mr. Zing went to England to undertake an apprenticeship for the cotton mills in the late 1920's, he married an English girl and subsequently moved back to China and settled in Shanghai, where he worked as a manager at a local cotton mill factory. In the late 1930's, the family moved to Hong Kong and lived here till the late 1970's before immigrating to England. In Hong Kong, Mr. Zing worked as a senior manager at Nanyang Cotton Mill in Kowloon and was well respected in the community. The three paintings he purchased in 1962 have been kept in the family, the first of which, Feeding the Donkeys by Huang Zhou, was sold in this saleroom on 3 April 2018, Fine Chinese Paintings sale, lot 160.
