This lithographic work comes from a painting made by the artist in 1959, it is part of the permanent collection of the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.
The title of the painting comes from the French expression "faire des châteaux en Espagne", which could be translated as building castles in the air. This expression is used when dealing with something impossible to achieve. However, in his dreams and work Magritte achieves the impossible, breaks the laws of gravity and creates the perfect fortress.
