Miguel Covarrubias was a student of Manuel Mantilla and José Guadalupe Posada, who marked his path through drawing and caricature. In this field he had the opportunity to publish his works in national newspapers such as "El Universal", "El Heraldo" and later he collaborated in the American magazine "Vanity Fair".
During his stay in New York he met world-famous people such as Igor Stravinsky, Ernest Hemingway and Mary Pickford, who later became his first models.
She was awarded the Guggenheim Fellowship twice. The first time she traveled to Bali and published the book "Island of Bali", with her own texts and illustrations. On her second occasion, she carried out research on the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, leaving the book "Mexico South - El sur de México" as a result of her work.
The illustrations she made correspond to elaborate works that demonstrate her expressive ability, putting experience before the plastic demand. The easel work she made was mostly focused on portraits, however, some correspond to pieces of a costumbrista character, landscapes and everyday scenes.
