- Sold by the latter to Mr. Lucks (?) on June 10, 1911 for the sum of 8,000 Fr.
- Sold by the latter to Mr. Émile Pommier on March 22, 1916 for the sum of 7,000 Fr.
- Remained in his descendants to this day.
- Alfred Robaut, The work of Corot - Catalog raisonné and illustrated, H. Floury publisher, 1905, described on page 240 under number 420 (Volume IV).
- In volume III of Corot"s work by Alfred Robaut it is indicated under number 2072: “1870-72 - Village by the sea, 38 x 55 cm Corot sale stamp. Probably painted in Tréport... There is also a repetition of this study (0.55 x 0.65)”. Corot posthumous sale (n°420), in a lot.
The facsimile of a copy of the catalog of the posthumous Corot sale annotated by Alfred Robaut and illustrated with marginal sketches indicates under this number 420: “Composed landscape, unfinished -------- 3rd part of the sale

The description corresponds in all respects to our canvas, we just have a difference in dimensions (dimensions which, on the other hand, correspond to n°2072 in the Robaut catalog).
