Our painting with its clearly legible date,
testifies to the summer stays that the painter made in the countryside in order to find motifs.
Around the year 1900, he produced landscapes of Moulineux and Méréville on the banks of the Juine, south of Etampes. Our painting can be considered a transitional work from the end of the painter"s pointillist period in the 1890s.
