Bust of a woman after Cranach the Younger. 1958 (Bloch 859; Baer 1053 IIICb) 640 x 534 mm. Five-colour gouge engraving on linoleum printed on Arches vellum. Proof signed in blue pencil lower right with the annotation "artiste"s proof", of about fifteen copies outside the edition of 50 for the Louise Leiris gallery. Bears on the back the words "Docteur Joseph Jaffé Sabartès, 3 Avril 1959" Damaged (in the right shoulder and above, in the black part above the left shoulder) doubled. Margins slightly yellowed, small remains of paper stuck on the right edge (about 15 cm from the upper edge) and near the upper left corner. Sheet: 763 x 575 mm. This plate was made by the artist from a postcard representing Cranach the Younger"s painting, Portrait of a Young Girl, 1564 (kept at the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna) that Kahnweiler had sent him.
